Hondón de las Nieves

The Hondón valley lies enclosed by mountains, about half an hour from Alicante airport. Anyone arriving here notices the contrast with the coast at once: almond trees and vine terraces instead of promenades, and a village where the day still runs on Spanish time. Hondón de las Nieves attracts people looking for space. For the budget of an apartment by the sea you often buy a detached villa here with a plot of land, a pool and views of the mountains. The winters are mild and dry, the summers warm but, thanks to the altitude, just that bit more bearable than on the coast. There is a mixed community of Spaniards and northern Europeans, and daily amenities are within walking distance.
