Rojales

Rojales sits on the river Segura, fifteen minutes from the beach at Guardamar. The historic centre is built around the eighteenth-century Carlos III bridge, and in the rock behind it lie the well-known cave houses that today hold studios and small restaurants. It is a village where Spanish life simply carries on: a market, a square, terraces where the whole family sits on a Sunday. Administratively Ciudad Quesada belongs to Rojales as well, which means one municipality contains two very different worlds: the authentic village by the river and the green, international residential area with its golf course. If you want the calm of the interior without giving up the coast, this is a good place to be.
