Applying for a NIE number in Spain: step-by-step guide

The NIE number is the Spanish tax identification number for foreigners. Without it you cannot buy property, open a bank account or sign contracts in Spain.

You can apply at the Spanish embassy in your home country or at the local police station in Spain. Required documents include: valid passport + copy, completed form EX-15, proof of payment form 790 (€10.20), and proof of reason.
